Hi I’m Anxious - Over-functioning, anxiety management, high achieving women, anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism
Welcome to “Hi I’m Anxious.” Are you an over-functioning, high-achieving, over-thinking perfectionist but an amazing woman who also suffers incessantly with anxiety? You are not alone. Hi I’m Katy Dahl and I am an HR professional, business owner, entrepreneur, wife, and mom and I have suffered from anxiety for what seems like forever. For as long as I can remember, anxiety has been part of my life. It’s the ugly little friend that rears its head at the time that is most inconvenient… when I want to be most present with my family, at the high pressure business meeting, when I am awake in bed at night worrying instead of sleeping. Anxiety has crept into otherwise perfect moments in my life and stolen that joy from me. l I was recently diagnosed with anxiety and I found that there were some tools for managing it. I don’t think I’ll ever be free from anxiety, but now I am equipped to overcome it and enjoy life despite it. Together, on this podcast, we’re going to work through mind management, physical health, and getting the support we need. We’re going to hear from experts, therapists, and psychologists, and we’re going to dive into the tools you can use so you can go from “Hi I’m Anxious” to “Hi I’m way less anxious.” So put down that third cup of coffee, swap it for some lemon water, we’re about to get this thing under control. Do you catch yourself struggling with a cycle of fear and overwhelm? This could look like you making your number one fear or worry your number the thing you put your attention on first. So, for example, are you worrying about an upcoming deadline at work - to the point where you obsess about it all day, all evening, all weekend, whether you’re at work or not? Or maybe your doctor orders testing to investigate some ailment you’re having, and then you worry night and day about the test results until you get them. You drone on about it to whoever will listen, watch your phone obsessively for a call from your doctor, and Google the symptoms you’re having - effectively working yourself up even more than you were already?
Do you constantly cater to your number one fear or worry, to the point of obsessing about it? If so, then this episode is for you.
I hope this episode helps you, friend!
Wishing you freedom to live the life you want, despite anxiety,
Katy

Has something really upsetting or icky happened to you, something that put you into fight, flight, or freeze mode - and seemed to stop or derail you from what you wanted to be doing instead? I’ve been working on incorporating more grounding body-focused work into my repertoire of tools to help combat anxiety. The past 6 months or so, I’ve been utilizing some somatic or body-based techniques or tools to do this. And I’ve found this to be a really helpful tool in some situations because I do feel better after using them.
I hope this episode helps you, friend!

Let’s talk to you about overwhelm. We all have experienced it at one time or another. And if you’re here, I think you probably have experienced it more than you would like - am I right? You’re a high achiever, so you push and push yourself to the limit and beyond pretty regularly - I know you’re no stranger to this. And I am betting you are also not a stranger to stress, anxiety, panic, or burnout that can accompany overwhelm if you let it go on for too long.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about a tool that I use to help me combat overwhelm - and I have really seen how much it has helped me to avoid reaching the point where I’m feeling those icky feelings of panic - oh my gosh, I have too much to do! Or stress, like when am I going to get all of the things done on my to do list? Or anxiety - as in I’ve been so overwhelmed for so long that I’m also anxious most of the waking hours of my day. I’m guessing you know that feeling? You’re tired, you’re crabby, your jaw and shoulders are tense - is any of this sounding familiar?
If so, don’t worry friend - I’ve got you in this episode. We’ll talk about that one tool that I use to help me combat these feelings overwhelm leading to stress, anxiety, panic and then maybe even burnout.
I hope this episode helps you, friend!
